Nina Louise (Ivy) Baxter Smart

Nina Louise Ivy Baxter Smart, 95, of Gorman, Texas, died in Midland, Texas of congestive heart failure on July 29, 2024. She was born in Stonewall County Texas in 1929 to Linville Cordell Ivy and Nina Ilera Hawkins, raised during the Great Depression, witnessed many historical world events. Louise graduated Whiteface High School. She was a highly independent and motivated woman who worked as waitress, bank teller, real estate agent, bookkeeper, and entrepreneur. While being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, first husband, of almost 50 years, WW (Jr.) Baxter, second husband, of, almost 20 years, N.D. Smart and is survived by Son Ronald Douglas Baxter of Midland and his wife Celina, Daughter Billie Gail Cambron and her husband Van. 6 grand-children, 17 great-grand-children, and 3 great-great grand-children. Visitation will be Friday, 8/2/24 from 5-7pm at Higginbotham Funeral Home in Gorman, Tx. Funeral service will be on Saturday, 8/3/24 at 2pm at Gorman Church of Christ in Gorman, Tx. with grave side to follow. Donations to Gorman Church of Christ, Hospice, or the local library would be greatly appreciated.
