William 'Will' Clifton Dennis

September 17, 1937 — June 24, 2024

William Clifton Dennis, a man with three first names or three last names, was born to Eulan Lee and Hettie Ione (Thompson) Dennis on September 17, 1937, in Gorman Texas. Will found joy in making people laugh and was known for his hard work ethic from a young age. He proudly served his country and enlisted as a Marine at age 18, excelling as an expert marksman. After returning home, he held various jobs including farming with his father, mud engineering on drilling rigs, helicopter mechanics, and heavy equipment operation. Will was a natural educator who loved training others and was a captivating storyteller. He loved animals of all kinds and they loved him. He was a skilled competitor in board games and card games as well as pickleball. Will had many hobbies including motorcycling, water skiing, hunting, and fishing. After age 50 he spent his time round dancing, square dancing and country western dancing. He was President of the Dublin Cloverleafs and became a member of the Terrell Grand Squares. He also enjoyed singing, playing his guitar, dobro and mountain dulcimer. He became a pilot and flew small planes and helicopters. Later in life he was an avid RV’er, making many new friends across the country. He and Linda were park hosts at various Core of Engineer and state parks across Texas.

Will was preceded in death by his father and mother, brother Richard, sister Jo Ward, and son Joe.

His legacy is cherished by his wife Linda, daughter Angela Lambert (Larry), daughter-in-law Joyce, sister- in-law Rose Mary Dennis, stepchildren Damon Wehr (Marie), Jeffrey Wehr (Amy), and Andrew Wehr (Erica). He was blessed with twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. His nieces, nephews and cousins were important treasures in his life.

Will remained faithful to his Baptist upbringing, always praising, and thanking God. Will’s life was centered around faith, family, and community.
