Nelda Mcdaniel (Hogan) Keith

Nelda McDaniel Keith of Carbon, Texas passed from this life on October 1, 2021 at the age of 76, with her family by her side. The last of 6 children born of parents Omer Franklin and Ina Lee, (Ghormley), Hogan on December 21, 1944 in Carbon, TX. Attending schools in Snyder, Odessa and Carbon Texas. Graduated Carbon High School class of 1963. Nelda married James Duane McDaniel on October 14, 1966. They have 2 children Shana Lee and John Michael. Duane and Nelda were married for 41 years until he passed in 2007. Nelda then met the second love and soul mate of her life, Earnest Lee Keith. They were married May 12, 2012, until his passing September 24, 2021. Nelda led a full life. With 2 young children she went to cosmetology school getting her license and opened Curl and Swirl Beauty Salon in Carbon. She styled hair for many years. When clientele got thin she went to EMT Basic and Intermediate school then realizing it might be better to become a Home Health Aid to care for people at home. She began working for Mediplex in Eastland that later was bought out by Girling Healthcare in 1999. She worked in the field for several years before moving into the office as a clerk. She did almost everything except be boss and office manger (her words). She worked there until she retired after the age of 70. She loved to sew, knit and crochet things for family and friends. She also enjoyed making rag quilts over the past few years. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening and putting up vegetables grown every year. She was preceded in death by her parents, Spouses Duane McDaniel and Earnest Keith. Brothers Billie Hogan, Lawrence Hogan and Omer Hogan Jr (JR), sisters Ruedean Wolfington, and Retha Hines Parker. Granddaughter Audry Breann McDaniel Survived by daughter Shana Lee McDaniel Davis and husband Wayne Davis of Carbon, TX, son John Michael McDaniel and wife Ginger of Malakoff, TX. Step children Missy Kay and husband RJ Lund, Jennifer Keith and Gil Paiz, and Sara Keith all of Abilene, TX, Grandchildren Justin Wayne Davis and Mackenzie Shinn-Baker, of Carbon, Jacob Matthew Davis of Carbon, Alex Brandon McDaniel of Malakoff, Texas, Austin Morman and Miranda. Natalie Lund of Abilene, and Shelby Haile. Brother-in-law, Carl Eugene Keith(Puff), of Clyde. Sister-in-law Carol (Sissy) and Donald Barron of Baird. Numerous very close friends cousins, nieces and nephews. Fur babies Scooter, Mongo, Taz, Sassy, Angel,Izzy and Samantha. Service Details.
