Kay Larae (Jarrett) Watson Johnson

November 29, 1942 — August 3, 2024

Kay Larae Jarrett was born at home, Carbon, Eastland County, Texas on November 29, 1942. Kay was the oldest of two sisters.

Kay met and married her high school sweetheart, Johnnie Arland Watson, on October 14, 1959. Three boys joined this marriage, Jeffrey Arland Watson, Steven Craig Watson and Mark Edvin Watson.

Kay and Johnnie began their business, Watson Printing Inc., in Dallas, Texas. This was a very successful business, and the children were all involved even at a young age. During this time Johnnie opened a Real Estate Company, as the broker and Kay completed her studies to become a Realtor and worked side by side with her husband.

As their interests in the area grew Johnnie and Kay created Watson Oil & Gas, Company. Kay and Johnnie were so pleased to see both of their sons attend Tarleton State College in Stephenville and both received degrees in Geology. This business is still active with the boys both being officers in the company.

What started as a hobby with Kay and her mother, Kay started to do intricate oil paintings and developed her skills and won many 1st place competitions with her entries.

Travel was also very important to Kay as she loved to research the genealogy of her family. In 1999, Kay her sister Rita and cousins Glinda and Bob Poe traveled extensively through Scotland, Wales and Ireland to locate relatives. Kay amassed volumes of research and some of it was included in the published Knox History book.

Kay was preceded by her parents, Clifton and Frankie Jarrett, husband Johnnie Arland Watson and son Jeffrey Arland Watson.

Kay remarried to Billy Wade Johnson on December 18, 2002, in Gillespie County, Texas.

Kay will be deeply missed by her sons and granddaughter, Jaclyn Watson-Alvarez, great granddaughter, Penelope Alvarez, her son’s stepdaughter Jessica Kinman and family. And many of her cousins who visited and cared for her.

Kay was a devout Christian.

Richard Watson, her husband’s cousin, will be the pastor for her graveside service at 10:30am, Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the Murray Cemetery, Carbon. Texas.
