Freddie Don Tucker was born to Jerusha Emeline Fields Tucker and Erie Thomas Tucker, delivered by the famous Dr. Rodgers at Gorman, Tx. He spent his childhood in Eastland, Texas, graduating from Eastland High School in 1958. After graduation he attended Ranger Junior College, then completed his undergraduate degree at North Texas State University, majoring in Physical education and minoring in science. To avoid being drafted, he joined the US Army, which took him first to Ft. Polk, LA and then to Ft Benning GA. While at Ft Benning, God led him to a small church, Benning Hills Baptist Church. After he finished his 2 years in the service of his country, he decided to stay in the Columbus, GA area and teach school and see more of that area of the country. In October of 1965, he started dating his future wife, Jackie Johnson. They dated during her senior year of high school and 1 year of college, then married June 10,1967. In June of 1968 he moved his bride back to Texas. They lived 1 year at Decatur, then 4 years at Grapevine while Jackie completed her Associate degree in nursing, and in July of 1973 they returned to Eastland County. Since then, Fred taught 1 year at Breckenridge, 10 years at Carbon ISD where he was principal, coached, and taught drivers' education, and science . He also served in the US Army Reserves and had an auction business, plus all the farm animals he had always wanted when he grew up in town. He finished his teaching career in December 1992 at DeLeon High School, where he taught science and drivers' education. During his years in education he touched many lives positively. He loved his students. He has always been active in his church, serving as a deacon and always willing to do anything that he could do to help anyone in need. Since August 1997 he and Jackie have been members of Corinth Baptist Church, Cisco, Tx. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Bessie May Holliday, 5 brothers, John D (lived 1 day), T.J Tucker, Walter Tucker, Jack Tucker, and E.L. (Pete) Tucker, numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jackie Johnson Tucker, daughter Holly Martin (husband Lanham), son Brian Tucker (wife Christi), 7 grandchildren Erica Preston (husband Kolton), Elizabeth Martin, Jeff Martin, Sara Chamberlain (husband Chris), Michelle Rasco (husband CJ), Wesley Tucker, and Jayton Tucker, 11 great grandchildren Kase and Kymber Preston, Raylyn, Lanyn, Evan, Aiden, and Bailey Chamberlain, Colby, Gauge, and Everly Rasco, and Spencer Tucker., plus many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church, Cisco, Texas.
