Francis Durward Webb was born on June 28, 1928, in Lueders, Texas. He went to his eternal reward on May 16, 2022. He graduated from Lueders High School and later attended Abilene Christian College.
He married Mary Delilah Patton on July 8, 1949, in Lueders, Texas. They resided in Lueders and later Abilene. He was employed by Dowell Chemical as a truck driver for 10 years. He moved his family to a farm in Carbon, Texas in 1961. He served on the Carbon school board for numerous years. He was a supervisor for Birdsong Peanuts for 25 years before retirement. They moved to Gorman in the late 1980's where he later served on the city council. They still retained their farm at Carbon and had cattle until recently. He enjoyed going out to the farm as well as keeping his yard mowed himself. He loved drinking coffee with other coffee drinkers daily at the DQ.
He was loving devoted to his wife throughout their 72 years of marriage. He had a special bond with each of his grandchildren and would take them to Bridgeport for fun summer trips. He sent each of his great-grandchildren random packages at different times and then would start his list over.
He would say the most important part of his life was his Christian walk with Christ. He personally supported several young men to attend preaching school. He served as an Elder at the Carbon Church of Christ and later at the Gorman Church of Christ. He never considered himself a preacher however he would preach whenever needed and enjoyed doing so. He loved the Lord and the church. He also served his Lord by visiting shut-ins, calling, taking meals, and checking on others.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Webb, children Marcia Hale, Durward Webb, Jr. and his wife Sheila, and Leisa Jobe; grandchildren Stephanie Catoe, Chris Webb, Melissa Walston, Danny Webb and a special grandson, Brandon Hale; great-grandchildren Nathan Catoe, Carson, Cassie and Cariys Webb, Garrett Walston, Elliott and Anna Webb.
He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Eunice Webb; grandparents Francis Marion and Jane America Webb; and Durward Everett and Anna Lula Newsom; a sister Bobbie Jane Lovett; grandson Daniel Kelly Webb in 1976; son-in-law Rex Jobe in 1991 and son-in-law Donald Hale in 2022.
