Brent Lasater

Lesley Brent Lasater of Gorman, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the age of 83 years.

Brent was born in Gorman, Texas, to Hulon and Mayvis Lasater.  After high school, he attended McMurry College where he enjoyed playing in the band and met many of his life-long friends, including his wife.

He married Jean Ranson Lasater in 1964 after joining the United States Air Force.  He was stationed first in Tennessee and then in Bitburg, Germany, where he served as a Captain.

After moving back to Gorman, Texas, in 1968, he worked at Southwestern Peanut Growers Association until he opened Lasater’s Department Store in downtown Gorman in 1975. He also worked at Higginbotham Bros. in Gorman and Bealls in Stephenville until his retirement.

Brent was very active at First Baptist Church of Gorman, serving as a deacon, Sunday school director, and music leader.  He was also active in the Gorman community as member of the Lions Club.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Becca Lasater of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren John Mark and Matthew Lasater, also of Frisco, Texas; sister, Lou Rodgers of Midlothian, Texas; and brother, Hal Lasater of Waxahachie, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hulon and Mayvis Lasater of Gorman, Texas, and his wife, Jean Lasater of Gorman, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 23, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Higginbotham Funeral Home in Gorman, Texas.

Services will be held on Monday, July 24, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Gorman, Texas.
