Billie Jo Marble age 97, of Gorman passed away February 27, 2021 at DeLeon Nursing and Rehab Center. Billie was born in Gorman on July 12, 1923 to William Frank Hagood and Nannie Elizabeth (Underwood) Hagood.Billie went to school in Gorman and graduated in 1941.
Billie worked at Southwestern Bell in Abilene as a switchboard operator, during WW2 she would stay on the line while the military would notify families of a death and she would comfort the family after being notified. While she was working in Abilene, she was also waiting for her fiancé to return home from the war.
Billie Jo married Roy Lester Marble April 26, 1946 in Ft. Worth, TX. They were married until Roy passed on March 5, 2002. Together they had one daughter Mary Jo.
After getting married, Billie continued to work for Southwestern Bell for 28 years, during that time she and her husband lived in Northern, California and Flagstaff, AZ following the logging industry. They retired in Jackson, CA. In 1995 Billie and Roy returned to Gorman.
Billie loves God and her family. She had attended Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cisco. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sewing.
Billie Jo is survived by her daughter Mary Jo Dugan and her husband Ray Dugan of Gorman and her brother Howard Hagood and his wife Pat Hagood of Gorman. Billie has 3 grandchildren and their spouses. 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She also has many special nephews and nieces.
Billie is preceded in death by her parents William and Nannie Hagood, husband Roy Marble, brother L.T. Hagood, and sister Mary Charles Featherhoff.
