Betty Lou Regian

August 30, 1931 — December 25, 2023

Mrs. Betty Lou Regian passed away in the Woodland Nursing home on December 25, 2023, at the age of 92. Betty was a longtime resident of the hotel (Gorman Housing Authority) in Gorman, Texas. Betty loved living in the hotel and made many wonderful memories and friends over the 26 years that she lived there.  Betty or Granny, as she was affectionately known by most, loved spending time with her family and helped take care of many of her grand and great grandchildren.

Granny was a proud Gorman Panther fan and could often be found in the stands cheering on her grandkids at any basketball, football, baseball or softball game they participated in.  She was still walking to the football field for Friday night lights well into her 80’s.

Betty loved the Lord and attended the Bride of Christ Church in Gorman, TX with Brother Denver Rainey as pastor. She loved to go to church, study the Bible and loved her church family. She also attended the United Pentecostal Church in Albany, TX on Sunday evenings.

Betty was born on August 30, 1931, in Santa Ana, California to Claude Columbus Jones and Fannie May Anthony Jones. Betty is the fourth daughter of 11 children. Claude was a migrant worker at the time, but ended up in west Texas where Betty, along with her siblings, picked, pulled and chopped cotton from the age of 8 until she married.

Betty married George Steve Regian on May 8th, 1949, at her home in Progress, TX.

Betty and Steve raised their family of 7 in Carbon, TX. In 1978, they moved to Belton, Tx. After Steve's passing, Betty worked in the Scott and White Hospital cafeteria for 16 years. Upon retirement, she moved back to Eastland County to be close to her family.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, George Steve, her eldest daughter, Betty Faye Petree, sons, Stevie Jr. and Kenny, 3 grandchildren, Ricky Joe Eason, Paul and Aaron Petree, her mother, father and most of her siblings.

Betty is survived by her brother Junior Jones, her children, Belinda Carol Pratt, Cordelia Redman, Barbara and Ervin Rogers, David and Becky Regian, her grandchildren Chris Eason, Melanie Eason, Robbie Pool, Barbara and Thad Collinsworth, Chad and Allison Rogers, Alisha Rogers Jarvis, Samantha and Junior Rodriguez, Amanda King, Amy and Luke Wilson, 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
